BRUNSWICK | As Hurricane Hermine tore across the Florida panhandle after midnight Friday, Georgia officials braced for severe damage that never came.
Jim Butterworth, director of the Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency, said that as a tropical storm Hermine had a less-than-expected impact with no deaths or major structural damage in the 56 counties under an emergency declaration.
