The flooding in Louisiana has put a crimp in Saturday’s celebration of 92-year-old World War II veteran Ernest Andrus’ cross-country run that will end on a St. Simons Island beach.
SWEGS Kitchen of Louisiana had planned to send a food truck to the island to provide food for a noon until 3 p.m. celebration at American Legion Post 166. But with SWEGS’s family, employees and friends affected by the flooding, the caterer is staying back in Louisiana to help feed those in need and those working in the recovery effort, organizers of Saturday’s event said.
